Lustres

SCHERNING’s lustres are ready-to-use preparations, made from metallic salts. After firing, lustres have an iridescent or metallic look. They are packaged into 5g glass bottles (except 6 colours: 2.5g).
You use them with thinners 174 and M350.
The colours are miscible together, and one on another.
Like gold, keep them in their original bottle out of reach of light and in a cool place. Clean the neck of the bottle with thinner. Apply lustres with synthetic brushes and kept only for the use of lustres. Work only on dry, clean and lint free surfaces. Lustres can also be applied with airbrush, with a sponge, with a rag or using the dipping technique. Before using a sponge, apply the lustre evenly with a large brush, then smooth the surface and avoid coming back twice on the same place.
Firing : SCHJERNING’s lustres must be perfectly dry before firing. At the beginning, small fire until 350°C then quickly at - 550 - 580°C on glass
- 700 - 730°C on earthenware
- 780 - 800°C on porcelain
